New Cultural Center's big plans for South Florida

The South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center is different than most center for the arts because it is more than just a building and a theatre - it is a dynamic center with a host of workspaces open to local artists.

The center, complete with lab theatre, black box theatre, rehearsal studio and concert lawn is a place where the community can come in contact with the artists and their work. April saw the center's "soft-opening" with performances by Diavolo, who brought the building to life with large architectural props and incredible dancing, music and performance art.

The Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center will have its official opening in just a couple of months with performances and work from both local and global artists and musicians. Ideally located less than 40 minutes from North Beach and 25 minutes from the airport, the center hopes to draw in both the artists and communities of South Florida and beyond.
